Gravity is like a big hug from the Earth. The Earth wants to keep everything close, so it pulls on you and everything else. That's why you don't float off into space when you're standing on the ground. Imagine you have a big ball, and you throw it up in the air. What happens? It comes back down, right? That's because the Earth is giving it a big hug, pulling it back down to the ground. It's like the Earth is saying, "I love you, stay close!"
