Ooh, gravity is like a big hug from the Earth!

You know how when you give your favorite toy a big hug, you pull it close to you? Gravity is kind of like that. The Earth is giving everything on it a big hug, and it's pulling everything towards itself.

That's why things don't float off into space when you drop them. The Earth is hugging them back to itself, so they fall down to the ground. Even you! You're being hugged by the Earth right now, and that's why you don't float away. Isn't that cool?
